CME for Physicians
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of The University of Kansas Medical Center Office of Continuing Education and the Kansas State Ophthalmological Society. The KU Medical Center Office of Continuing Medical Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The University of Kansas Medical Center Office of Continuing Medical Education designates the Friday educational activity for a maximum of 6.5 hours and the Saturday program for 6.5 hours in category 1 credit towards the AMA Physicians’ Recognition Award. Continuing medical education will be prorated according to documented attendance. All participants are required to sign attendance rosters at the beginning of each day.
OBJECTIVES—Upon completion of this conference, participants should be able to:
Friday:
¨ Utilize the appropriates codes for reimbursement of ophthalmic procedures.
¨ Recognize and avoid common mistakes in recordkeeping and third party billing for the ophthalmology office.
Saturday:
¨ Diagnose and treat white dot syndromes.
¨ Discuss new information regarding angiogenesis and diabetes melitis and utilize the information to effectively treat these conditions.
¨ Identify when and how to utilize 25 Gauge Vitrectomy.
¨ Learn and apply new treatments for wet AMD.
¨ Apply retinal clinicopathologic correlates to practice.
¨ Discuss the positive and negative factors associated with the use of Acrysof Natural Lens implants for cataracts.
GENERAL INFORMATION
LODGING - A block of rooms has been reserved at the Wichita Airport Hilton, located at 2098 Airport Rd., Wichita, KS 67209. Please make your reservation directly with the hotel at 1-800-AIR-HILT or 316-945-5272. When making your reservation, inform them you are eligible for the KSEPS room block to receive the discounted rate of $84 plus tax. Reservations must be received by the hotel on or before January 26, 2006.
REGISTRATION - Participants may pre-register by mailing form and payment to KSEPS at P.O. Box 4103, Topeka, KS 66604 on or before February 5, 2006. To pay on arrival, fax registration to KSEPS at 785-234-9718 up to February 9, 2006. Registration on site is available.

The Kansas Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons provides this opportunity in order to facilitate professional collegiality and greater knowledge of patient treatment for specific conditions and appropriate referral for surgical care.
CONTRIBUTIONS – Fees and contributions to the KSEPS are not deductible as charitable contributions but may be deductible as professional or business expenses.
